So, maybe you want to teach here..........

Stamford College currently employs approximately 20 native-speaker teachers within our local school group and in our partner schools. We usually require our teachers to have a Bachelor's degree or genuine alternative, but more importantly we require them to have a certificate or diploma in teaching English, or TEFL/TESOL. There are many such qualifications, but we recognize them all provided they are issued by a recognized institute and have assessments based on teaching practice. We would therefore not accept a qualification based purely on distance or on-line assessment.
Teachers with some relevant experience but no formal teaching qualifications would be encourage to take a TEFL Certificate (such as the Stamford College TEFL Certificate) at the earliest opportunity. A Certificate is the minimum requirement for teaching English in many countries in Asia and it is to the advantage of both parties to encourage the increase in numbers of suitably qualified teachers.

For teaching in International or Bilingual schools a different set of qualifications is required. These would include a Bachelor's degree in Education (or degree plus PGCE) and a related TEFL qualification if possible.

We have a contract for teachers, which lasts for one full calendar year and is renewable every year after that. It normally starts in late/April early May, as this is near the start of the academic year in Thailand. However, we do have vacancies at various times throughout the year ( October for example), so if you are interested in joining us, please send in your resume at any time.

The contract calls for a teacher to teach 100 hours per calendar month, and for this there is, of course, a reward package. The present reward package consists of:
-a fixed monthly salary of 26,000 baht
-any overtime hours paid at 300 baht per hour
-4 weeks paid leave, plus public and national holidays
-medical cover after 2 months of continuous employment
-work permit and visa renewals applied and paid for. (The original visa application made before a teacher's arrival is no longer paid for by Stamford).

There are also some other minor benefits, such as down-time, which is the period of time between semesters when there are fewer classes to teach but there is preparation work for the following semester to attend to. Stamford gives a high emphasis to continuing materials development.
